SVCF's Community Action Grantmaking
In late 2020, SVCF established the Community Action Grants Program in response to recommendations from our community partners during our strategic planning process. Using a racial justice and equity lens, the Community Action Grants Program identifies and supports organizations that foster greater creativity and help build community and power to promote a just, equitable and inclusive Silicon Valley.

Movement & Capacity Building Overview
The practice of capacity building — which supercharges a leader, organization, network or movement’s ability to reach their goals and achieve lasting impact — is a lever that CZI uses alongside grantmaking to support the different fields that we serve. Our Movement & Capacity Building team helps strengthen the infrastructure and provide the resources that leaders, movements, and organizations need to drive lasting social change and expand power in historically underrepresented communities.

Marin Community Foundation Advancing Nature-Based Adaptation Solutions Grant Program
The California State Coastal Conservancy and the Marin Community Foundation are supporting a series of innovative projects that are developing and testing nature-based solutions to protect shorelines and adapt to sea level rise in Marin County. These grants are made possible by funding from the Buck Family Fund of the Marin Community Foundation to address the impacts of climate change, particularly on low-income communities and other underserved populations in Marin County.
Legal Services Funders Network
https://ncg.org/legal-services-funders-network
The Legal Services Funder Network (LSFN) is an informal group of funders who support civil legal service organizations as a strategy to help alleviate poverty. The network is comprised of a cross-disciplinary group representing community and private foundations, private law firms, donor advised funds, individuals, government, “crowd source” funders, and the California Bar Foundation. In 2014 the network began to host events in the San Francisco Bay Area as a means of providing a space for legal service funders and key partners to convene and collaborate to:
Raise the profile of how legal services impacts poverty alleviation
Help more philanthropic dollars go to legal services organizations
Provide an example of sector-collaborative work by having diverse funders as well as government “at the table” working together
Collaborate with other funders when of true value (e.g. funding a study)
NCG is pleased serve as a partner and Fiscal Sponsor to the LSFN. Visit the LSFN website for more information!
Fellowship Program

gThe
LSFN Public Interest Law Post-Graduate Bar Fellowship Program (the
LSFN Fellows) was designed in the midst of the 2020 coronavirus
pandemic to address the needs of Bay Area Legal Services
Organizations to increase their capacity to serve more clients, as
well as May, 2020 graduates of Bay Area law schools, who are faced
with a delay in their ability to take the California Bar Exam.
We're excited to share that the inaugural cohort of LSFN Fellows have
completed their Fellowship with great success, contributing over
15,000 hours of quality legal services to Bay Area communities.
The Bigglesworth Family Foundation supports programs and projects that help create systemic change by strengthening the capacity of non-profit organizations and addressing delivery system and historic challenges. We are especially inspired by programs that have the potential for sector-wide impact.
